Your First Visit

Your initial visit should take an hour and a half or two hours. Our dental assistant will update your records with digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and your medical and dental history. Then, she and Dr. Perry will talk with you about your primary concerns and long-term goals. If you'd like to know more about cosmetic dentistry, we'll answer all of your questions at this consultation.

We'll comprehensively evaluate your oral health, checking for worn dental work, new problem areas, proper occlusion, gum disease, and oral cancer. Dr. Perry will provide a full head and neck exam. If you suffer from teeth grinding, headaches, earaches, or a popping jaw, please let us know. For children, Dr. Perry may recommend dental sealants and/or fluoride supplements to ward off tooth decay.

After you meet with Dr. Perry, our hygienist will chart your gum pocket depths and explain your gum health. If you're in this category, the hygienist will discuss treatment options and help restore health to your gums. About 80% of American adults suffer from some form of gum disease. If your gums show signs of infection, we'll recommend a separate appointment for periodontal therapy, which involves scaling and root planing and/or laser therapy. In the absence of gum disease, the hygienist will thoroughly clean and polish your teeth. She'll also offer information about how you can improve or simplify your daily oral homecare habits.

Our front office team will be happy to file your insurance claim, and we'll accept your copay or deductible at your visit.
